As the wife of a pastor, my sister, Jennifer McMahen, has devoted herself to family and community for decades. Now, she needs our help! Jen has developed a chronic disorder that is causing severe anemia. On June 26 she will undergo a hysterectomy and excision surgery. Currently, she has accumulated $10,000 in medical bills. They will need at least $8,000 more to cover her portion of the upcoming surgery.
We kindly ask you to consider making a financial contribution. If only 360 people give $50, we can meet their needs! You can also come alongside us in getting the word out by sharing her story on your social media platforms. We would also greatly appreciate your prayers. I have listed a few specific prayer requests below. Thank you!
Over the last few years, Jen has struggled with menorrhagia (excessive menstruation) and the accompanying pain, fatigue, and shortness of breath associated with blood loss. After unsuccessful attempts to manage the heavy bleeding through lifestyle changes and hormone balancing, an ultrasound in November of 2024 revealed that her uterine fibroids and endometriosis were likely the cause. Despite adhering to a strict diet, taking several prescription medicines, and receiving monthly iron infusions, she still experiences severe blood loss monthly, requiring continual monitoring and posing a risk of hospitalization. The extreme blood loss has resulted in severe anemia, causing extreme fatigue, shortness of breath, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, heart palpitations, and chest pain.
Jennifer’s local doctor recommended that the best course of action for long-term health is to have a hysterectomy and excision surgery for the endometriosis by an expert in endometriosis care and minimally invasive gynecological surgery. This minimally invasive surgery for removal of the uterus, fibroids, and excision of the endometriosis will allow for a shorter recovery time and less chance of endometriosis regrowth. Therefore, Lance and Jennifer will travel five hours to Post Falls, ID, on June 25 for a pre-op appointment, with the surgery scheduled for June 26. They will need to remain in the area for several days after surgery. Thankfully, a generous Airbnb owner has donated a place for them to stay.
Please pray for the following:
1 Financial assistance.
2 Jen's iron levels increase enough for her to undergo surgery without requiring another costly blood transfusion.
3 Energy to prepare the allergy-friendly food needed for the initial days after surgery in Idaho.
4 Safety and stamina during travel.
5 Guidance for the doctor, anesthesiologist, and all personnel in the operating room.
6 A successful surgery, of course.
