Who uses WayGiver?
WayGiver is for individuals, churches, and ministries. You can learn more about our partner churches and ministries on our Partners page.
Do you have to be a ministry to use WayGiver?
No. Individuals can use WayGiver and will receive the same awesome support.
Who handles the money?
When you create a new fundraiser you are also prompted to create an account with our credit card processor, Stripe.com. Stripe handles the financial transaction. WayGiver is not involved with any part of the financial transaction.
Are donations tax deductible?
Maybe. It depends on who is sponsoring the fundraiser. If an individual is sponsoring the fundraiser, it is most likely not tax deductible. If a church or other non-profit ministry or 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization is sponsoring the fundraiser, then it will most likely be tax deductible. When you donate, the fundraiser is clearly identified as to its tax status and the donation. After you donate, WayGiver will email you a receipt for your records. The emailed receipt will contain a reminder that it is the only documentation you will receive for tax purposes.
Do I need a WayGiver account to make a donation?
No, you don't need to create an account in WayGiver in order to make a donation. Just click the Donate Now button on any fundraiser and it will take you directly to the donation form where you only need to enter your email and credit card information.
I made a donation in the past, how do I find my receipt?
All WayGiver donation receipts are emailed to the email address you entered on the donation form. Go to that email account and search in the subject line for “WayGiver” and you should find your receipt for your donation. Unfortunately, WayGiver is not able to provide individual receipts from past donations.
I can't donate now but can I pray?
Prayer is just as important as giving financial support and that is why we set up the prayer/messaging system. When you go to the fundraiser page of the person you care about, leave a prayer or message. You can even ask WayGiver to email you a reminder to pray.
Do I have to be a Christian to use WayGiver?
No. We do not discriminate based on a person's religious beliefs. We are selective as to what organizations we work with and what type of fundraiser we will allow. Our mission is help the Christian church and therefore we only work with Christian ministries and like-minded organizational users as Partners. We are also selective as to types of fundraisers we post to our website. Please see our Terms of Use for a list of the types of fundraisers we allow.
