Dear family, friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ,

On September 9, we laid our beloved mother, Dicky, to rest.

She was 70 years old, and her unexpected passing has left a deep emptiness in our family. Surrounded by those who loved her, we said our final goodbye and gave her the loving and dignified Christian burial she deserved.

Alongside our grief, we are facing an unexpected financial burden.

Our mother had funeral insurance, and we believed the costs of her funeral would be covered. Unfortunately, after her passing, we learned that the insurance company will not pay out the policy. We are challenging this decision, but in the meantime the funeral and burial expenses of approximately $11,650 have fallen on our family.

That is why we are asking for help.

Our mother’s life was not always easy. She knew what it meant to struggle, to care for others, and to keep going through difficult times. Her faith was an important part of her life.

As Christians, we believe that we are not meant to carry our burdens alone. Scripture teaches us to “bear one another’s burdens” (Galatians 6:2). In this difficult moment, we are experiencing how meaningful those words truly are.

Every donation will go directly toward the funeral and burial expenses for our mother. Whether it is $5, $10, $25 or more, every gift brings us one step closer to covering these costs.

If you are unable to give, you can still help us greatly by sharing this fundraiser with your family, friends, church or Christian community.

And above all, please keep our family in your prayers.

Asking for financial help is not easy for us. We would much rather carry this ourselves. But right now, we are choosing to trust God and to allow others to help carry part of this burden with us.

For those who would like to join us in remembering Dicky, the recording of her funeral service can be watched here:

The service was held in the Netherlands and is in Dutch, but we hope it gives you a glimpse of who our mother was, the faith that carried her, and the love with which we said goodbye.

Thank you for taking the time to read about our mother.

Thank you for every donation, every share, every message and every prayer.

May God bless you.

With love and gratitude,

Jaap and family

In loving memory of Dicky
